What To Expect
MARQUES DE RISCAL WINERY
We will start our Architectural Rioja Tour from your hotel in Rioja with a guided visit of the Marques de Riscal winery designed by one of todays leading architects, Franck Gehry. (Also famed for the Guggeheim museum in Bilbao).

The three colours used in the roof imitating the famous old bottles of the winery are an example of how the many facets of this are building are at one with its surroundings.

What to expect:

Guided winery visit (including the visit to the vineyards for stunning pictures of the building)

Taste three of their most representative wines: their famous white wine and two red wines: a crianza and their award winning Rioja Reserva (minimum of three years ageing).
VISIT YSIOS WINERY
In this tour we will also visit the Ysios cellar designed by Santiago Calatrava. The structure boasts many architectural features, for example, the roof aims to simulate te Sierra Cantabria (the mountain range that importantly helps to create the Rioja micro climate).

The type of wines made at this cellar are of the highest quality. Using their very old vineyards they prefer to only make Reservas (minimum of 3 years of ageing) and Gran Reservas (minimum5 years of ageing).

What to expect:

Quick introduction to the winery and wine making process in their cellar

You will have a tutored tasting where you will taste two of their remarkable wines with an aperitif (Iberian ham for example).
VISIT LAGUARDIA
We will head to Laguardia for a walk through the beautiful walled, medieval city of LaGuardia, with its underground cellars and wineries. Laguardia is both an architectural marvel and one of the most beautiful towns in the Rioja Alavesa region, if not all of Spain.

Walk around this stunning medieval village. Think fortified walls and narrow cobbled streets, surrounded by vineyards and mountains.
DELICIOUS RIOJANO LUNCH
The next part of our Architectural Rioja tour is a Simple (but delicious) three course Riojano lunch with wine included.

Upgrade. Only for private tours - Gourmet lunch with tasting menu overlooking the vineyards with some of the finest wines.
