Since Bilbao was founded in the 13th century by Don Diego López de Haro it has never stopped evolving. Bilbao will surprise you with four distinctive areas or landmarks that  that illustrate Bilbao’s evolution over time:  the colourful streets of the Old Town (home to most bars), the river that reflects its industrial past, El Ensanche (the financial and shopping district), and the unbelievable Guggenheim museum designed by the acclaimed architect Frank Gehry.
