What To Expect
COOK WITH IRENE, THE OWNER OF NSG IN HER TRADITIONAL BASQUE VILLA
This cooking experience is possibly the most personal and authentic that we can provide you.
I will welcome you in my house, show you how to cook the most traditional Basque products, how I take care of my greenhouse, vegetable garden and compost area and explain you my passion for Northern Spain and its gastronomy.
I went to cooking school in Bilbao and would love to show you everything I learnt so when you are back home you can prepare the most delicious dishes and pintxos for your friends and family
COOKING - COOKING - COOKING
The key to making great pintxos is the choice and quality of ingredients. During this cooking class, we will only use seasonal ingredients, depending on what’s available from local producers, or our own vegetable garden, where you can even pick the vegetables and herbs yourself.
What to Expect to Cook (it will depend on what is available in the market and the season):
The number one pintxo: la gilda
Cook fresh scallops with green sauce
Prepare the traditional cod with piperrada (the number one sauce used for fish)
Marmitako de Bonito - the number one dish in Basque Country
Play with ham, onions and goat cheese to assemble the most beautiful pintxo
For dessert we will prepare a platter of smoke Idiazabal cheese with quince and walnuts
OPEN BAR - WINE TASTING
Whilst we cook, we will let the wine flow, enjoying some of the best Spanish cavas, albariños, txakolis and riojas as we go.
We will explain you the differences between wines and how to pair them with food depending on their levels of acidity, minerality or spiciness.
VISIT CASTRO URDIALES
To burn off a few calories after our cooking class, we will take a short tour around the charming fisherman’s town of Castro Urdiales just 25 minutes’ drive from Bilbao.
We'll stop along the way for a coffee, wine or non-alcoholic drink in a small little bar overlooking the port, before heading back to Bilbao.

We have over five years' experience in the world of gastronomy and teaching cooking classes.
If you need transportation, it will be provided by a 4x4 Range Rover Sport or Mercedes Viano.

We will use only seasonal produce, when making the pintxos during out Bilbao private cooking class.
We visit the small port town of Castro Urdiales and show you the places that rarely appear in the guide books.
We are a team of four, each with skills in the wine and gastronomy worlds.
Our team are locals who know the North of Spain and its cuisine, like the backs of their hands.
Whilst we have carefully planned our cooking class, we aim to cater to our clients' needs, and will adjust the day as required.
