OENEOLOGY AND VITICULTURE COURSE
On this one-day Northern Spain wine tasting course, you will learn all about viticulture – the look, feel, smell and taste of different wines –carefully guided by our wine expert.
It will be a dynamic and fun experience, where you will learn to understand your own sense of smell, face aroma quizzes and test your overall skill with blind tastings.
WINE TASTING
We'll taste the most representative wines from Northern Spain such as Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Txakoli and Albariño, or the traditional cider from Asturias and the Basque Country.

You'll enjoy at least five different types of alcoholic drinks, all paired with traditional produce from Northern Spain. Throughout the pairing, the wine information will continue flow as well as the wine.
VISIT CASTRO URDIALES
After the cooking and dining, we will visit the beautiful fishing village of Castro Urdiales, located on the border of Cantabria and Basque Country. Fishing lies at the heart of this village and its setting, local food and people, are all a perfect representation of life at sea.

In addition to its fishing routes, the village has a rich history. It’s home to a medieval cathedral, an old lighthouse and stone bridge, which arches over a dramatic sea-filled natural pool.
We'll enjoy a walking tour around its small cobbled streets and the beautiful harbour, from where you can admire stunning sea and the mountain views. You will soon see why this is considered as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.
BASQUE DINNER MENU
Food pairing is our specialty, so get ready to taste gildas, cod, Iberian ham, local cheeses, and the award winning ‘txuleta steak’. The txuleta is probably one of the finest steaks in the world, bearing its own unique characteristics.
(It has been compared to the famous wagyu meat of Japan, but our Japanese clients have so far said that our txuelta is even better! Let’s see if you agree).ā
All food will be prepared in a traditional way, cooked over burning hot coals and in our wood-fired ovens. Along the way, we will share our cooking secrets and techniques.

It is really an exceptional experience. I've enjoyed every minute of it for sure. Great wines, amazing food and wonderful people. Irene and her boyfriend David are wonderful hosts and are genuinely friendly people. They make you feel like you are coming to your old friends for a dinner. They also have a lot of knowledge about local wines and local food and they share it with you. Their house is very beautiful with a nice view of the mountains. Its a really great ambient for a dinner, which only elevates the food which is spectacular. Over the course of the dinner we drank many great wines and ate many great courses. My favorite was the Txuelta steak which was probably one of the best I've eaten and the red wine which was offered beside it matched perfectly. I am really glad I've booked this experience and I am looking forward to meeting Irene and David again.

I had the greatest experience of all time, not just for travelling. what Irene and David offered is way way way beyond what I expected, they are not just expert of food and wine, they take care of things in great details that i was impressed by every 5 seconds. their place should be everyone's dream house, and everywhere speaks about quality and welcome without being snobbish, even though they have every right to be, as the depth of knowledge they have about food and wine (and how to enjoy life in general) , and it turned out to be educational and pleasant combined experience, also, more important, it's like visiting a friend's home and having a great night. they take care of us like a true friend. maybe because of the millions of gorgeous fireplaces around the houses, :) they are the most warm-hearted host with great great taste in everything they made. it's not just something you should do when you happen to be around Bilbao, it's something you should go to Bilbao or close to northern Spain to do! i promise it'd worth the trip and so much more. i wish my english would serve me better than this message, but at least i meant every word I lay down here.

What a fantastic not to be missed day out!!! We arranged a day trip directly with Irene and it was seamless from start to finish.
If you are visiting Bilbao this is a must do! If you aren't visiting, I would suggest you go just to do this tour. From start to finish the day was absolutely fantastic. Pick up in Bilbao was easy to coordinate and from there we drove to Castro Urdiales for a wander round and a wine overlooking the bay. Then onwards to Irene's stunning house just outside the town where the sun was shining and the wine was flowing. Irene is exceptionally knowledgeable and the wine tasting was a great introduction to the wines of Northern Spain. The house is beautiful and the meal was absolutely delicious. I really cannot recommend this tour enough.
